This rustic paulownia decor piece uses Yakisugi, a traditional Japanese technique of charring wood's surface with fire, which darkens the grain and adds a layer of natural weather and pest resistance without any added chemical treatment.
Applied to paulownia wood here, it comes in two sizes: a Small tray at 25×15×3 cm (about 1 kg), or a Large oval at 35×18×3 cm (about 1.5 kg).
Features
- Solid paulownia wood, fire-tempered Yakisugi finish — BPA-free and food-safe
- Natural carbonized seal — adds durability without chemical treatment
- Two sizes: Small (25×15×3 cm) or Large oval (35×18×3 cm)
Who It's For
Fits a living room or dining space styled around natural materials and traditional techniques rather than a polished, factory-finished look. The charred surface reads as intentional and rustic rather than damaged.
Care Instructions
- Wipe with a soft, damp cloth after each use — avoid abrasive scrubbers
- Don't place it in the dishwasher or microwave
- Buff periodically with natural beeswax to preserve the carbonized finish and enhance the grain
- Store flat in a dry spot to maintain structural integrity over time
